Product Best For Removable? Visibility
3 Mil Temporary Vinyl Promotions and messaging that changes periodically Semi-permanent, one-time use Opaque or clear
3 Mil Permanent Vinyl Long-term branding that isn't meant to come down Permanent, not designed for removal Opaque or clear
Static Window Cling Displays that rotate often Fully removable and reusable Opaque or clear
Window Lettering Logos, shapes, and text, printed directly on the vinyl Semi-permanent Opaque or clear
Window Perf Storefronts wanting outward branding without blocking inside visibility Semi-permanent, long-term See-through from inside, solid from outside
Windows work harder than most storefront features, they’re seen by everyone who walks or drives by, whether they come inside or not. Which product fits depends entirely on how long the message needs to stay up and whether you still need to see through the glass. Temporary vinyl works well for anything that changes, a sale, a seasonal message, a rotating promotion. It applies once and isn’t meant to be repositioned, so it’s built for a single run, not repeated use. Permanent vinyl uses the same material with a stronger adhesive, meant to stay in place for the long haul, ideal for a business name or logo that isn’t going anywhere. Static window cling is the most flexible option of the five. No adhesive at all, just static holding it to the glass, which means it comes off clean and goes back up somewhere else whenever you need to change it. Window lettering skips the background entirely, full-color designs, logos, and text printed directly onto the vinyl and applied to the glass. It reads like it was painted on, which makes it a strong choice for anything from store hours to a full branded logo. Window perf solves a different problem, branding that faces outward without blocking your own view from inside. The perforated pattern reads as a solid image from the street while staying see-through from your side of the glass. All five options come in opaque or clear material, opaque for a bold, solid look, clear for a more subtle presence that still lets light through.

What Makes a Window Graphics File Print-Ready

Since window graphics are viewed both close up and from a distance, resolution and simplicity both matter. Clean, bold designs hold up better than intricate detail that gets lost once it’s applied to glass.

Vector files, like AI, EPS, or PDF, print sharpest for text, logos, and window lettering specifically, since that product is cut directly from the file rather than printed. High-resolution images work well for the vinyl and cling products, as long as they’re built at full size from the start. If you designed in Canva, we can work with that too, just share the link with us instead of downloading it yourself.

For window perf, keep in mind the perforated pattern slightly softens fine detail once it’s printed, so bold graphics and larger text tend to read better than small, intricate designs.

Don’t have a print-ready file? That’s fine. Upload what you have, logos, photos, an existing design, and we’ll build it into something that fits your windows and your brand. If you have any questions along the way, call, text, or email us.

Turnaround Expectations

Turnaround varies depending on the product and size of your order. Window lettering and smaller pieces typically move faster, while larger vinyl or perf jobs may take a bit longer. We’ll give you a real timeline once we know what you’re ordering.

Why Choose LDI for Metal/ACM Signs

A sign that fails outdoors doesn’t fail quietly, it fades, warps, or falls apart in front of everyone who drives past it. We build these to actually survive Birmingham weather, not just look good the day it goes up.

Summers here aren’t gentle on anything left outside, and metal signage takes the worst of it, direct sun for months straight, then a thunderstorm that shows up out of nowhere. A sign that’s the wrong material for the job shows its age fast, curling edges, fading color, a warp that wasn’t there six months ago.

We’ve had customers come to us after ordering the wrong thickness somewhere else, a sign that looked fine in the shop and started bowing within a season once it was actually installed. That’s not a design problem, it’s a material problem, and it’s the kind of thing you only learn once it’s already hanging on your building.

Job sites, parking lots, storefronts, whatever’s going up, we ask what it’s actually facing before we quote it. Full sun all day is different from partial shade. A sign near traffic gets more abuse than one tucked against a wall. Small details, but they’re the difference between a sign that’s still sharp in three years and one that’s an embarrassment by next summer.

Frequently Asked Questions

3mm is our standard thickness, suited for most general signage. 6mm is thicker and more rigid, better for larger signs or anywhere extra durability is needed.

Yes, ACM is often called sandwich board or aluminum sandwich board, since a solid plastic core sits sandwiched between two thin aluminum sheets.

Solid aluminum is heavier and more rigid, a good choice for parking signs, official signage, or anywhere maximum durability matters more than weight or cost.

It depends on the environment, but typical expectations are 3 to 5 years for outdoor use.

Yes, our Reflective ACM Sign adds a reflective vinyl layer, built for visibility in low light or at night.

Our largest standard offering is 4' x 8'. Contact us if your project needs something bigger.
