Product Material Best For Reflective?
3mm ACM Sign (Sandwich Board) Aluminum composite General signage, lightweight applications No
6mm ACM Sign (Sandwich Board) Aluminum composite Larger signs needing extra rigidity No
Aluminum Sign Solid aluminum Parking signs, official signage, heavy-duty use No
Reflective ACM Sign Aluminum composite with reflective vinyl Low-light visibility on standard signage Yes

ACM, aluminum composite material, is two thin aluminum sheets bonded to a solid plastic core. You may also hear it called sandwich board or aluminum sandwich board, since the plastic core sits sandwiched between the two aluminum layers. It’s lighter than solid aluminum and more affordable, making it the right choice for most general signage. 3mm is our standard thickness, suited for most applications. 6mm is thicker and more rigid, worth choosing for larger signs or anywhere extra durability matters.

Solid aluminum signs are heavier and more rigid than ACM, commonly used for parking signs, official signage, and anywhere maximum durability is the priority.

Our reflective option adds a reflective vinyl layer to ACM material, built for visibility in low light or at night, common for parking lots, job sites, and safety signage where a sign needs to be seen after dark.

What Makes a Metal Sign File Print-Ready

Metal and ACM signs often go up permanently, so the design needs to hold up visually for years, not just look good on day one. Bold contrast and clean layout matter more here than intricate detail that fades from view at a distance.

Vector files, like AI, EPS, or PDF, print sharpest for text and logos. High-resolution images work too, as long as they’re built at full size from the start. If you designed in Canva, we can work with that too, just share the link with us instead of downloading it yourself.

Bleed matters here, extend your background color or image slightly past the edge so nothing leaves a white gap once it’s trimmed to size.

Don’t have a print-ready file? That’s fine. Upload what you have, logos, photos, an existing design, and we’ll build it into something that holds up for years, not just the first season. If you have any questions along the way, call, text, or email us.

Why Choose LDI for Window Graphics

You already own the best advertising space your business has, and it’s sitting empty most of the time. Every window facing the street is free real estate you’re already paying rent on, whether you use it or not.

We’ve watched businesses treat that space as an afterthought, a taped-up flyer, a faded sticker nobody’s replaced in two years, a hand-written sign that’s been there since before the pandemic. Meanwhile the shop next door has clean, sharp branding on their glass and gets noticed by everyone who walks by.

Windows are a strange kind of advertising, they work on people who never even glance at your website or your social media. Someone walking to their car, someone waiting at the light next to your storefront, someone who’s never heard of you until that exact moment. That’s an audience most marketing never reaches.

We print for storefronts all over Birmingham, and the difference between a window that gets noticed and one that gets ignored usually comes down to whether someone actually put thought into it. We do.

Frequently Asked Questions

Window perf is a perforated film that lets you see out from the inside while showing a solid image from outside, permanently adhered for long-term outdoor use. Window cling uses no adhesive, just static, and can be removed and repositioned anytime.

No, properly applied window graphics remove cleanly without damaging glass. Static cling leaves zero residue, while adhesive vinyl products may leave minor residue depending on how long they've been up.

It depends on the product. Window perf and clear vinyl options let you see through from the inside. Opaque vinyl and cling fully block visibility from that side.

Temporary vinyl uses a removable adhesive meant for a single application. Permanent vinyl uses a stronger adhesive designed to stay in place long-term.

Yes, window lettering works well for logos and shapes, not just text. We print the design directly onto the vinyl, so full-color logos are no problem.
