A post and panel sign is a freestanding sign mounted on two posts set directly into the ground, different from a yard sign staked temporarily or a monument sign built into a solid base. The panel, the printed sign itself, attaches to the posts and sits elevated off the ground, giving it more visibility and a more permanent, professional presence than a stake-mounted sign.

ACM, aluminum composite material, is our recommended choice for post and panel signs. It holds up significantly longer outdoors than coroplast, resisting warping and fading through repeated exposure to sun and weather. If your sign needs to last for years without a reprint, ACM is the stronger investment.
Coroplast is available as a more affordable alternative in two thicknesses. 10mm coroplast is our standard recommendation for post and panel applications, offering better rigidity than lighter material, though it still won’t hold up as long outdoors as ACM. 4mm coroplast is the most economical option, but for signs wider than 3 feet, we recommend adding a plywood backing to support the panel and get the best longevity out of it.

Post and panel signs are viewed at a distance from the road, so bold, high-contrast design matters more than fine detail. Text and logos should be sized to read clearly from a moving vehicle.
Vector files, like AI, EPS, or PDF, print sharpest for text and logos. High-resolution images work too, as long as they’re built at full size from the start. If you designed in Canva, we can work with that too, just share the link with us instead of downloading it yourself.
Bleed matters here, extend your background color or image slightly past the edge so nothing leaves a white gap once it’s trimmed to size.

Coroplast costs less upfront, and there’s a real place for it, but we’ve seen enough signs come back looking tired after one Alabama summer to know when it’s worth spending a little more. Direct sun for months straight, then a thunderstorm out of nowhere, that combination is hard on anything mounted in the open.
If coroplast is the right call for your budget or timeline, we’ll tell you that too, and we’ll recommend 10mm over 4mm, or plywood backing on anything wider than 3 feet, so it holds up as long as it can. We’re not trying to upsell you into ACM, we’re trying to keep you from replacing a sign in eight months.
